Beliefs 8–10 establish the hope of the believer in the resurrection rather than in the idea of an immortal soul living apart from the body. Believers of the Way United teaches that death is a state of unconsciousness, silence, and non-existence. The dead do not continue in awareness in heaven or torment in hell; they await the resurrection as their only hope of life.

From this foundation, we understand the soul not as an immaterial entity separate from the body, but as the living being itself — the complete person formed when body and breath unite by the power of YHWH. Therefore, the hope of the righteous is not escape from the earth, but bodily resurrection at the return of Yeshua the Messiah, when YHWH raises His people to eternal life.

8. RESURRECTION

The belief that death is a state of complete unconsciousness and non-existence, and that the hope of the believer is not an immortal soul going to heaven at death, but a bodily resurrection from the dead at the return of Yeshua the Messiah, when YHWH will raise his people to eternal life.

9. STATE OF THE DEAD

The belief that death is not the gateway to an immortal soul floating in heaven or burning in hell, but a state of complete unconsciousness, silence, and non-existence — the dead know nothing, feel nothing, and await the resurrection as their only hope of life.

The immaterial entity separate from the body, but rather the living being itself — the complete person created by YHWH when breath and body unite. The soul does not survive death independently but dies with the body and awaits resurrection.
